The city of Vizag and its beaches go hand in hand. With enticing seashores spread along the city’s coast, Vizag has around half a dozen serene beaches.
While some serve as a source of fun and adventure, some serve as a source of peace and serenity. So here we bring to you the beaches in Vizag.
Beaches In Vizag
1. Bheemili Beach
Bheemili Beach is located in the village Bheemunipatnam, which is around 20 kilometres from the city. Although the beach is peaceful given its remote location, it also is bit sooty with black sand.
Stay away from the left part of the beach where fishermen undergo their business and have a good swim on the right side of the beach. Most of the beaches in Vizag are a bit dangerous to play and swim in with their strong winds and high waves. But Bheemili is perfect for swimmers with its steady waves and pleasant wind.
2. RK Beach
Rama Krishna Beach is the main and popular beach in Vizag but not the cleanest and most peaceful. With heavy footfall every day, this beach suffers the mighty blow of littering.
The waves are stronger when compared to other beaches, so be very careful if splashing about in the waters. You can also visit the nearby VUDA park, War Memorial, Submarine, which have historical significance.
Not known to everyone, Gangavaram is one of the most beautiful beaches in the city. This place has palm trees and beautiful sceneries, which makes it a go-to destination for many movie makers to shoot.
Unlike RK beach, this one is more secluded and peaceful. If you’re looking to have some time for yourself in peace and serenity, Gangavaram is the perfect place within the city for you.
4. Lawson’s Bay Beach
Another beach which is in the city but is a lot more peaceful when compared to other beaches is the Lawson’s Bay. Considered as the extension of RK, this beach is calm and serene in all its glory.
Its long sand strip makes you want to take a long walk all along to RK beach. Of course, many joggers choose to exercise here to witness the beauty of the sun over the sea.
5. Rushikonda beach
It’s one of the stunning beaches in the city, if not the most stunning one. The natural emerald colour of Rushikonda’s waters gives the beach an exotic aura which is usually found in Sri Lankan or Australian beaches.
Rushikonda also is a major attraction thanks to its golden sand, water sports and hilltop restaurants which offer an unbelievable view of the sea. Also, this beach allows swimming, under supervision, so don’t forget to have some fun.
Popular among the youth and nature lovers, Yarada Beach is the best beach in Vizag and, in fact, one of the best in South India. The simple thought of climbing a mountain and descending it to reach the beach itself gives a thrill. Yes, you have to drive all the way up to a mountain and get down on the other side to reach this beach.
Being a popular weekend getaway for many, Yarada beach is surrounded by hills on its three sides and the Bay of Bengal on the fourth side. Going to this beach is almost like finding a lost island. Many people from Vizag love to spend their weekend mornings here, bringing food to have a mini picnic.
Every beach in Vizag serves a different purpose; some for fun and water sports, some to find peace and tranquillity. If you’re planning to visit Vizag anytime soon, make sure you visit all the beaches, especially Yarada and Rushikonda, to really experience Vizag.
