About Madurai

Madurai is one of the oldest cities in India, and its roots date back to the 3rd century BCE. Often referred to as the ‘Temple City’ and the ‘Athens of the East’, Madurai is an extremely popular pilgrimage center in the state of Tamil Nadu. The city, situated on the banks of the Vaigai River, is said to have engaged in trade with the Roman empire. The city is home to a number of historical monuments, the most prominent ones being Meenakshi Amman Temple (which is visited by millions each year) and Thirumalai Nayak Palace. Madurai has gradually evolved into a melting pot of cultures and arts. Madurai is considered a significant educational and industrial hub in the southern part of Tamil Nadu. Prominent government educational organizations such as the Homeopathic Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Madurai Law College, Agricultural College and Research Institute are also situated in Madurai.

Best Time to Visit Madurai - Madurai is known to be sultry almost two-thirds of the year. The months of February and March are observed to be a period characterized by briskly cold winds. Avoid visiting during the time between March and July as the summer can get excruciatingly hot. August to October is marked by thunderstorms and torrential downpour. The period between November and February is the best time to visit Madurai as the weather is relatively cool with rare occurrences of dew and fog. As Madurai lies equidistant from mountains and the sea, it is subject to two legs of monsoons. Temperatures during the summer months soar to a maximum of 40-42 °C. Winter temperatures, however, range between 18 °C and 29 °C. If you are planning a trip to Madurai for temple visits (which obviously involves being outdoors for a good part of the day), it is advisable to do so during the cooler winter months. Good hotels in Madurai are not a rarity anymore. You should easily be able to find one by doing a little bit of research.

The closeness to the railway station and the airport render Treebo properties some of the best places to stay in Madurai. Execute your temple-hopping plans easily by staying at one of our well-rated properties. Madurai is encompassed by mountain ranges of historical and cultural significance – Samanar Malai, Nagamalai, and Yanaimalai, to name a few. The city’s outskirts are known for their scenic views. Madurai is also regarded as a major textile center and is famous for its high-quality cotton and batik fabrics.

Events in Madurai - The temple city depicts South Indian culture and art at its very best. The city has borne witness to the evolution of Carnatic music right from the 16th century and has churned out famous musicians such as the legendary Madurai Mani Iyer and M.S.Subbulakshmi. Attending a temple concert in this ancient city would give you a better idea. Festivals like Pongal, Chithirai, Festival of Cradle, and Avani Moolam are vivid examples of how the people of Madurai come together for celebrations. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Department also organizes a yearly 15-day dance festival where various forms of dance are showcased by participants. Based on your travels plans, complete your Madurai hotel booking as early as possible.

Experience in Madurai - Stay true to the spiritual vibe of Madurai by paying visits to Meenakshi temple, Alagarkoil Temple, Pazhamudhir Solai, Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam, and Koodal Azhagar Temple. Add Gandhi Museum to the list of check-ins as it carries deep insight into India’s struggle for independence from the colonial rule, apart from the Madurai Government Museum that houses a splendid collection of archaeological discoveries, and the 17th-century Thirumalai Nayak Palace. Most festivals in the city (like Chithirai and Teppam) involve long processions of deities and are quite extravagant. Sample the local cuisine at Murugan Idli Shop which is a favorite among the natives. Idlis, pulao, and biryani constitute a major part of the daily diet of the locals here. Make sure that you try the popular milk-based drink jigarthanda that is served at most street stalls in Madurai. Certain rooftop restaurants such as Surya vegetarian restaurant and Temple view and Garden offer great views of the city. Gift yourself (or an acquaintance) top-quality textiles and handicrafts from some of Madurai’s shopping centers. When it comes to Madurai hotels, Treebo should be on top of your list. Finding accommodation in Madurai has become a lot easier with Treebo.

Review for Treebo Berrys Boutique
Budget Friendly - Excellent City Center stay option
“Stayed for 1 night and found the hotel to be well located. Off the main road so avoids the noise and congestion. Check in is simple and quick and the room was clean and well maintained. Basic facilities like a tea coffee machine / ac / clean bathroom and towel / linen. Did not try the complementary “ breakfast as the road as some more compelling options but the breakfast area did look crowded in the morning. Staff were polite and happy to allow an extra hour for checkout. Overall hotel delivers on the treebo promise and one would struggle to complain or find fault.

Oh! Madurai
“Visiting Madurai Meenakshi Temple is always a divine experience. People, Languages, Culture, Architecture, Devotion, History and so forth. Treebo Simap Madurai is located so close to the temple. Neat clean place. Nothing sophisticated but outstanding in basic requirements like clean toilets, towels“ , sheets, The price is incredible affordable for us seniors. If you arrive by your own car approach could be demanding and parking even more so. But you make it, then it is very comfortable to do temple visits and shopping. Lots of good veg restaurants nearby . If we come, we may chose this hotel for these very reasons. wall decorations with caricatures novel idea !!

Excellent Hotel for stay with family
“We stayed in Treebo on Aug 15th and then again on Aug 18th. I was travelling with my mom aunt and sister. This hotel is very conveniently located next to East entrance of Meenakshi temple. It is hardly 2 minutes walk to the temple. Because of this close proximity, my mon and aunt could walk down to “ the temple in the early morning without any one's help. The staff here is very courteous. They made sure our stay was comfortable. On our first visit of Aug 15th, my mom forgot her mobile phone on the bed. We were enroute to some other place out of town when we realised the phone being missing. We called the reception and the manager over there checked our room and found the phone. We asked him to keep it somewhere so that we can pick it up again on Aug 18th visit. He carefully kept it in the locker and handed it over to us during our next visit. While checking out the hotel I planned to give tip to the person who helped us. He blindly refused any money and said he was happy he could be of help. I would highly recommend this hotel for cleanliness, proximity to the temple, courteous staff. I would definitely stay here in my next visit and would recommend to my friends and family. Thanks Treebo for making my visit pleasant.

Comfortable stay
“The entrance looked little okay when we arrived at this hotel. But I was taken aback once we saw the room. It was well maintained and absolutely clean. The bathrooms were so clean and that was the first thing I always look for when we enter in a room ;) Our flights were late in the evening and they“ allowed us to stay a couple of hours which none of the other hotels does. Staffs were very polite and friendly especially Mr.Khalif had made sure that we had a comfortable stay there. Lovely person. Thanks to treebo simap.. we had a pleasant stay. Kudos

Good hotel but..
“1.We were given rooms right next to the reception and given the fact that the rooms aren't sound proof noises from outside were disturbing. That being true even at night when we tried sleeping( the staff should be mindful when they talk at night...we didn't complain because they were youngst“ ers and gave the consideration of them having to stay awake for a night shift) 2. Even though it was informed that we'd be arriving a few hrs later than the.standard check in time of 12.30, arrangements for sufficient towels wasn't made when we checked in (at 3.30 pm). Only one towel in a double bedroom for two. It took around 45 minutes for the 2nd towel to be supplied. 3. No number displayed in the room to contact the reception or any service. 4. Had to wait multiple times to get hot water to drink. The kettle in the room wasn't working and there was only one bottle of complimentary water for two. 5. There should be some kind of basic medication for colds or headaches available at the hotel even if it comes at an additional price. My mother developed a really bad sore throat at night but no cough drops were available. 6. Breakfast was average. 7. The rooms were clean and met the expectations! 8.Staff was courteous and tried to get breakfast ready slightly earlier upon our request since we had a train to catch.Appreciated.

Great price, great location
“This property is located literally a stone s throw away from the east tower and main entrance of the meenakshi amman temple, which is the main attraction of the city of Madurai. Also, the shops, showrooms and restaurants of Kamarajar Salai too are walkable from here. The oak room was slightly crampe“ d but OK for 2, while the maple room was quite spacious. The place was clean and maintained well. The staff were courteous polite and helpful and also allowed us a late check-out. There is no restaurant in house but they do provide complimentary fixed breakfast. However, we didn't sample that. Finally the place was easy on the pocket and a bargain for that price.

A nice hotel with very friendly staff
“I had a pleasant stay here. Very friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Very close to the railway station. The room is a bit tiny I felt. I was staying single, so it was not a problem. But, if that's a double occupancy room, it will be an issue I believe. Also, wifi was not available. Rest everything“ was good.

Centrally located with all basic amenities
“The Treebo Berrys Boutique i centrally located, has decent rooms, and a good but minimal breakfast. The showers were not good in one room but good in others and the staff sorted it out quickly. Only the parking is a bit of a pain since the parking lot is located external to the hotel and about 300 m“ eters away. Overall it is good value for money

Worst place stayed ever
“I planned to stay in this hotel for a night with family. Booked 2 rooms out of which 1 was for 3 members which was little spacious and the other 1 was for me and my wife which was terrible. The room was smaller then 8x8 sqft. Dirty bathroom, stinky room, dirty bedspreads and blankets with too many s“ tains, hard beds as if you r sleeping on a bench. I booked cos the photos displayed were beautiful... pls don’t go by photos.
