Mysore

Previously the capital to the renowned Kingdom of Mysore (1399 - 1947) ruled by the Wadiyar Dynasty, the city boasts a scintillating blend of Islamic, Rajputana, Gothic and Hindu architectural styles. Mysore is known for a plethora of things ranging from Mysore Pak to Mysore Sandal Soap to Mysore Palace. The city’s appreciation for art and culture has given it the title ‘Cultural Capital of Karnataka.’ The 10-day Dasara festivities in Mysore are a class apart. Mysore has produced numerous specialists in the fields of science, literature, politics, films, and sports. Without doubt, Mysore happens to be one of the cities in Karnataka that warrant a visit (or two even!).
