A city set around a group of artificial lakes and home to some of the most beautiful palaces in India, Udaipur is one of the most scenic destinations in India. A bastion of Mewari identity, this city is a reminder of the glorious days of Rajput kingdoms. With tourists pouring in all through the year, this Rajasthani city never goes out of style. The winter months from September to March, particularly are the best months to visit Udaipur. Since the city has a high tourist influx, there are many hotels in Udaipur. The opulent palaces of the erstwhile kings have now become palace hotels, and are some of the best hotels in Udaipur. Other hotels in the city include lake-view hotels, government guest houses and budget hotels.

There are many places to visit in this royal city. A stroll in the Saheliyon ki Bari garden is always recommended, while the Gulab Bagh and Zoo is home to many endemic and rare species. Enjoy the splendour of the lakeside City Palace and the Monsoon Palace. The Jagdish Temple is another famous landmark. Udaipur is known as a city of lakes, and the Pichola and Fateh Sagar lakes are some of the most romantic and picturesque spots in the city. A visit to Udaipur is a culinary adventure and the food in the city draws influences from many regions and cuisines of Rajasthan. Try the thalis at many of the local restaurants to sample many of the local favourites. Some of the dishes you should try while exploring Rajasthan are Dal-Bati Churma, Laal Maas and Boondi Raita. Udaipur’s eateries offer a great range of international cuisines at many restaurants set in luxurious spots around the city’s lakes. There is no end to shopping in Udaipur, a city with some of the most vibrant markets you can find. The Bada Bazaar and Hathi Pol Bazaar are great places to look for indigenous art and traditional apparel and accessories. Spend some time in Chetak Circle, another popular market. “Stayed with family for 3 nights. 2 young kids (aged 7 and 9), wife and myself. Spacious rooms, quite clean and a great 5th floor restaurant with 360 degree view of Udaipur. Attitude of staff is good. Many tourist locations (lake pichola, Bagore ki haveli, Jagdish temple and City Palace) and many goo“ d eateries are within walking distance (200- 400 metres). Overall a good experience. I am reading quite a few negative reviews here. It appears they relate to old trips. The hotel has been renovated in early 2017 and this reflects in its current offering.

“No proper entrance access, Poorly cleaned blankets. Bathroom water not draining properly. No choice of breakfast - they do not have a restaurant, No RO water in this hotel, apart from ONE ltr bottle per day, you have to pay for each drop of water. Breakfast is served in your rooms and you have to“ wait hours for it to be served. AC in the room switches only on request to the reception counter and they have only 2 persons employed to cater to all the rooms in the entire hotel. And to top it all, my wife's wrist watch was found stolen by the cleaning guys.
