The famed and beautiful Aga Khan Palace was built in the year 1892 and played a very significant role during the Quit India Movement. It was where many freedom fighters were imprisoned, prominently amongst these figures was Mahatma Gandhi, Sarojini Naidu, Gandhi’s wife and his secretary. The palace is now also famously called by an alternate which is the Gandhi National Memorial. The ashes of Gandhi and his wife are still preserved here.
