The holy temple town of Pushkar is increasingly becoming one of the more popular destinations in India. This ancient city invites pilgrims all year round, but also attracts many non-Hindus due to its fascinating history and charm. In the month of November, the Pushkar Mela takes place for two weeks and this invites traders from all across Rajasthan as well as tourists. There’s probably no better time to experience Pushkar and Rajasthan than during the festival which captures the vibrant and bright culture of Rajasthan in totality. The closest airport to Pushkar is the Jaipur airport which is 3 hours away. If you wish to come in by train, it would be most convenient to take a train to Ajmer as the railway line there is well connected and timely. If you’re travelling from other parts of Rajasthan or from Delhi there are direct buses which are operational daily. There’s no scant of hotels in Pushkar and guests can choose from standard hotels to more lavish options. If you’re looking for a mid-range stay you could try any of our three star hotels in Pushkar. The hotel rooms are spacious and come with several amenities and facilities that usually include a swimming pool, a restaurant on the premises, as well as complimentary breakfast, on-site parking, and complimentary toiletries. The hotels are strategically located and have easy access to the major modes of transport as well as popular attractions and eateries. A stay in Pushkar would be incomplete without a visit to the Brahma temple. It’s the only temple in the world that is dedicated to Lord Brahma and is visited by thousands of devotees annually. An aarti ceremony occurs here everyday at sunrise and at sunset which is beautiful to watch and something that one should definitely try to not miss out on. The Savitri temple is located on top of a hill and while it’s a bit of a trek to get there the views of the Pushkar lake and the surroundings make it well worth the climb. The best views can be caught at sunrise as the sun casts an orange hue over the sky as it rises. Travellers can also visit the other several temples which are present and one can even go on camel safari rides where you will be going through the Thar desert. A camel safari can be a multi day activity and includes folk dances in the night as well as sleeping under a canopy of stars. A trip to the ancient city of Pushkar is an experience you will long remember.
