Mahabaleshwar, a hill station in Maharashtra, was once the summer capital of the British Raj from 1819 up to independence. This quaint town is nestled away in the Sahyadri Mountain range and is home to one of the few evergreen forests in India. The River Krishna that flows through four major states also originates in these hills. The town is separated into three villages and are about 285 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune. The nearest railway station is in Satara, about 60 km away and the closest airport is Pune International Airport about 120 km away from the hill station. You can easily travel to the city via state-run and private buses or hire a taxi.Mahabaleshwar attracts a large number of city slickers every year and many hotels have popped up here to accommodate them. If you’re looking for affordable accommodation, choose from a number of comfortable two-star hotels in Mahabaleshwar. They are normally small two to four storey buildings. They are located close to major transportation hubs, intersections, and popular tourist attractions around the city. These hotels are well maintained and offer basic facilities and on-site amenities. Unfortunately most 2-star hotels in Mahabaleshwar do not house restaurants. That shouldn’t be a problem though with the number of affordable well-ranked restaurants around here.Mahabaleshwar has over 25 points of interests and if you’re a fan of Indian architecture, then you can visit the 5 temples built at the origin of 7 rivers. A natural splendor to visit is Monkey Point, a naturally sculpted rock formation that resembles the 3 Wise Monkeys. Strawberries are locally grown in Mahabaleshwar and desserts made from this fruit are worth a try. A few things to do in Mahabaleshwar are boating in Tapola, horse riding around Venna Lake, trekking, and watching the sunrise and sunset at Wilson Point’s and Kate’s Point, respectively. Try local snacks including mulberries, roasted chickpea nuts, carrots, vada pav and more. A very good example of a very Bad hotel and worst Customer support and looting Exp. by Treebo
“Need to learn from Treebo, how to sell lodges and charge for star hotel rates. I Paid for Premium room, offered normal / deluxe room. House converted in hotel, pathetic surrounding, torn bed sheets as old as Dinosaur age. First day wasted talking to Treebo Customer support with no use. Transferred “ to another hotel which is 6-7 km from city. Called after return from holiday, put me on hold for more than 40 min. When I checked the tariff it was less and 50% what I paid. Walking customers were paying half what I paid through Treebo. I will never suggest anyone to book through Treebo. I am sure they don't see property before they start selling their rooms. Perfect Stay or Don't Pay is only a slogan. Very good marketing slogan. Can make out that their creative team may be from some top Institute like IIM's and IIT's. But they forget that they can make the person fool only once not twice. Horrible experience.....Will not suggest anyone to book through Treebo. While I am writing this message, they have put me on hold which I am holding for around 30-40 min.
