BUDGET HOTELS NEAR OPERA HOUSE MUMBAI

Inaugurated by King George V in the year 1911, the Royal Opera House (or just ‘Opera House’ as it is called now) boasts a blend of Indian and European architectural/design styles. At one point, it was made into a movie-screening space before witnessing a shutdown in the 90s. The iconic landmark (and its surrounding area), which was under the ownership of the Gondal Royal Family since the early 50s, was revamped under the supervision of the (leadership of conservation) architect Abha Narain Lambah in 2010. Originally conceived by an entertainer from Calcutta (now Kolkata) known as Maurice Bandmann, the Royal Opera House Mumbai was included on the ‘World Monuments Watch (2012)’ in order to spread awareness about its origins and importance, and also to reinstate efforts for preservation. There are jewellery stores and offices of I.T firms in the vicinity of the Opera House. This area is also referred to as ‘Opera House’ by the residents of Mumbai. The Charni Road Railway Station lies just 600 m away from Opera House while the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport lies 21.8 km away.

After being restored, the Opera House has attracted tourists (foreign nationals, business travellers, families, solo travellers, couples and more) quite regularly. This has led to the establishment of a number of hotels near Opera House area. “The rooms are very small in size. Space for just one extra mattress. The breakfast was good . Air conditioning and cleanliness was also good. But I paid almost 4200- for one room which is very expensive as compared to other hotels.“

Great staff and good location
“The room is clean, quiet with good shower and soft quality pillows and bedding. The best part of the hotel is the staff - warm, frlendly and very helpful. Feels like a family run place even though it is a chain. I recommend the place for anyone staying north of the core Fort area.“

Disappointing
“Internet useless, staff expecting tips just for doing their job and didn't clean the room or change the sheets or towels unless you asked. No daily room cleaning. Staff will rip you off if you give them money to get you something - you wont see the change and when I gave them money for my laundr“ y I never saw the change!

Best hotel to stay
“Stay for one day. good hotel with clean room and toilet. But be very careful @ time of online booking to make sure entered information is captured correctly or not. I took room for my family of 3 adult and 2 child but child information were missing. due to this hotel did't provide complementary “ breakfast to children.

Worst hotel, worst employees, worst travel desk
“The over all experience was horrible. Would no one to book this hotel. To begin with, after we checked in, the rooms were stinking, toilets were having insects, we have booked two rooms, in one room the sofa com bed was broken, we stayed there for 3 nights but the hotel employee didn't chang“ ed it. Every morning during breakfast all the items were do finished before even half of the guest have taken the breakfast. We had argue with hotel staff for breakfast. Not to mention the taste was horrible. The people at travel desk were cheat. They lied to us about the rate of car and The drivers were very cunning, what the hotel staff informed us to pay to the driver, the drivers charged more than that amount. When we refused to pay he asked us to get out of car at 10 pm in night Such a horrible experience. Will suggest everyone not to book this hotel

Horrible place
“I had a very bad experience this time. I have stayed in the hotel before and it was good but this time bedsheets were having stains and they weren't clean also one of my cousins had to stay with me one night and hotel receptionist dint allow even though we showed his ID wich belonged to Gujarat.“ We requested a lot as he had come from bangalore and there weren't any rooms available in hotel or near by hotels but Receptionist wasn't ready to listen to us wich was really rude. We respect hotel policies but wen in some situations rules can be changed. !!!
