The lake is surrounded by lush greenery and folks have the choice of either enjoying the lake by the park or on a boat ride. The tranquil environment is definitely a welcome treat for most visitor. The nature park that is adjacent to the lake is another tranquil point of interest. Here, visitors can have a look at the seasonal garden, the aquarium that houses several species of fish and tortoises, and the house built entirely of bamboo. The Murugan Temple and the Jalagandeeswarar Temple are steeped in history and religious importance. The Jalagandeeswarar Temple is right at the heart of the famous Vellore Fort, and it is famous for its mythological story as well as its intricate carvings that are beautiful. Marriage ceremonies are also commonly hosted in the open gardens here, as it is believed to be auspicious. The Murugan Temple is situated at the tip of the Yelagiri hill, which offers some spectacular views. A trip up to this temple is sure to revive you spiritually as well as double as a trek. The Aadi festival is celebrated every July at this temple, and it can get crowded so be sure to make advance bookings for your accommodation in Yelagiri.
