Bandra West is undeniably the most posh locality in Mumbai. Mehboob Studios was set up here in the 1950s and made the quiet suburb the centre of the Bollywood industry. It is now home to some of the biggest names in Indian cinema, politics and sports. The locality is about 18 km from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and about 12 km from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. Some neighbouring localities close to Bandra West include Santacruz, Dharavi, Khar, Mahim, Amboli and Kurla. Bandra West is connected to the rest of the city with an extensive network of buses, autorickshaws and taxis.
