Kuldhara is a small village situated close to Jaisalmer. The town famous as one of the most haunted places in India has been sitting abandoned for almost 200 years but still has some structures in habitable condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is said that 2 centuries ago, the wicked prime minister of Kuldhara, Salim Singh, got infatuated with the daughter of the village chief and proposed to marry her. He threatened to increase the already high taxes if his proposal got rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horrified by the ordeal, the whole population packed their belongings and fled from the town in one single night. As they left, they cursed the village to remain abandoned till the end of time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hundreds of people have tried to spend a night at this eerie place. They\u2019ve reported seeing shadows, feeling something or someone tap on their shoulders, falling temperatures, and hearing voices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The village is open for visitors between the safe hours: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. However, for experiencing the paranormal occurrences, one has to stay past sunset. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brij Raj Bhavan, Kota<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Not all ghosts intend to cause you harm. Under this category falls the ghost of Major Charles Burton, which haunts the Brij Raj Bhavan, Kota. The central hall of Brij Raj Bhavan is said to be the final resting place of the British Major. Hence, that is the area where a majority feels uneasy. The building, which is almost 190 years old, has now been converted into a heritage hotel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guests who come here often report of the temperature falling for no apparent reason. They also claim hearing whispering sounds. Several paranormal experts who have visited this property confirm the presence of ghosts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s said that the ghost of Major Burton slaps the security guards who fall asleep on duty. Some of them have even been scolded by him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roop Kund, Uttarakhand<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Roop Kund Lake, famous as the Lake of Skeletons<\/em>, can be found in the Chamoli region of Uttarakhand. Are you curious to know why the lake situated at such a pristine and picturesque site bears this bizarre name? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the year 1942, a British Forest Guard found nearly 200 human skeletons scattered around the lake. The locals came up with countless stories about these skeletons. Some said they died due to an epidemic several centuries ago, while others claimed that these bones belonged to soldiers who got stuck in a snowstorm. People also believe that the skeletons belong to a group of pilgrims headed towards Nanda Devi and was punished by the goddess for behaving disrespectfully. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, upon keen research, the scientists have found that the skeletons are of perfectly healthy people belonging to Greek, Chinese, Indian, and other South-East Asian origins. The oldest bones are from the 6th and 7th centuries. The place also has bones of people who may have lived in the 16th or 17th centuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although no spooky incidents have taken place in the area, the mysterious lake has still made it to the list of haunted places in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baba Harbhajan Singh: a guardian angel near Nathu-La Pass<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Would you believe us if we told you that Nathu-La Pass is guarded by the spirit of an Indian Army Soldier who had sacrificed his life fighting for the country? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such is the love for nation that even after his untimely demise, Late Captain Harbhajan Singh bravely guards the national border. Affectionately, the believers call him \u2018Baba.<\/em>\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baba Harbhajan Singh was serving in Sikkim in 1968. On a fateful day, while escorting a mule column from Tuku La, he fell into a \u2018nullah\u2019 and lost his life. His remains were discovered three days later, and the cremation was carried out with full military honours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soon after, he appeared in the dreams of his colleagues, and asked them to build him a shrine. It\u2019s said that the water from this shrine has the ability to cure various ailments. Devotees often leave waterbottles here for a while, and take them back to their close ones who are in need. The guardian angel is said to have prevented various road accidents in the area. He also has his own way of warning the soldiers of forthcoming attacks. Miraculous, isn\u2019t it? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every year till his retirement, Baba Harbhajan Singh was given an annual leave of two months. The soldiers on duty packed his belongings and escorted them to Kapurthala. They even brought them back when it was time for him to resume his duty. He was promoted to the rank of a Captain, and it was ensured that his salary was duly paid till the day he retired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even the Chinese army on the other side leaves a seat vacant for Baba Harbhajan Singh at flag meetings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

G.P. Block, Meerut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The haunted house at G.P. Block of Meerut is said to be scarier than your worst nightmare. Amid the wild foliage stands a mansion in a dilapidated state. Close to it is another structure that may have been an outhouse or servants\u2019 quarter once upon a time. Due to its ruined state, figuring that out is close to impossible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking at the architecture, one can assume that the mansion must have belonged to someone wealthy. However, upon research, we discovered that it was a sub-area office for Indian Defence Forces. The seemingly neglected area still comes under army\u2019s protection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But now, it serves as home to age-old cobwebs, bats, and if the stories are to be believed, a few ghosts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The locals have reported spotting the ghosts of two children, a group of four drunk teenagers, and a woman decked up in a red saree at this haunted house. These sightings are the reason why this house has made it to the list of most haunted places in India. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Believing or not believing these stories is entirely your choice. No incidents that involve the children, the woman in red, or the drunk friends have ever taken place at this house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mukesh Mills, Mumbai<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mukesh Textile Mills & East African Hardware Ltd. were ventures of Muljibhai Madhavani. It\u2019s said that the mills were established in the 1870s. They were constructed in Colaba, Mumbai, and overlooked the Arabian Sea. The owner had even made a private port, where the ships could conveniently unload the raw material like cotton and fibre, and load the ready textiles to take them to their destination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mills were renovated in the year 1975. All was hunky dory until a massive fire broke in 1982, and led the mills to shut down forever. The cause of fire is unknown to this date. Nearly 3000 workers were left jobless after the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was locked up and forgotten for a long while. All until it caught the attention of Bollywood\u2019s film directors. Several movies like Gunaah, Luka Chuppi, Heropanti, Badlapur, and OK Jaanu have been shot here. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
