Ever wondered what’s type of traveller you are? Are you into luxury or go by the basics? Let’s find out if you are a glampacker, city slicker or a backpacker!
Planning your next trip – to an exotic beach? To the hills? Or perhaps a drive through Swiss Alps, straight from Torino to gorgeous Geneva? Then this post is just for you. We all have an agenda in mind while chalking out our travel plans.
For some of us it’s recreation, for some it’s a passion, for some it is a soul-searching mission and for some others it’s just another reason to capture great selfies. But what type of traveller are you? Here are certain signs that can help in deciphering your traveller type.
Personality type: They are the classy, chic and sophisticated type of travellers who love to pamper themselves or indulge in a lavish life on their trip. They usually travel to take a break from their hectic corporate/ business world. So all they want to do is just put up their legs and chill in peace.
Travel mission: Where there’s luxury, there is glampacker.
What’s in their bag?: Glampackers always travel in style. So you’ll find the biggest fashion labels and international cosmetics to branded toiletries and different pairs of shoes in their bag. Ladies prefer to look suave like the locals, so they never miss out on their ‘key makeup items’.
Places they visit: International shopping destinations, spa resorts and royal places where they can enjoy an extravagant and classy life.
Our recommendation! Don’t bring anything you would be upset to lose. We mean jewellery, in particular, but it applies to all items you pack 🙂
2. City Slickers
Personality type: These travellers have a moderate budget and are cautious about where they are spending their money. They look for urban conveniences and hustle-bustle of the city around them wherever they go.
Travel mission: Everything should be pre-planned – right from the resort (with free wi-fi of course) to the mode of transport. They even look for the nearest KFC or McDonald’s joint, because who can trust the local cuisine!
What’s in their bag?: Their bags are almost like an entire departmental store packed into one. First aid, extra sets of clothes and lingerie, detergent bars, toiletries, iPad, extra plastic bags, extra hair pins and a whole lot of extras that you can think of.
Places they visit: City slickers prefer the tried and tested places. They look for places where they wouldn’t feel left out. Water sports or adventure sports, shopping malls, entertainment and clubbing zones, amusement parks, carnivals etc. are their kind of thing.
Our recommendation! It’s wonderful to expose yourself to the wonders of the natural world. Shed your inhibitions and step into the world of wilderness once in a while.
Personality type: These are travellers who travel on a shoestring and always make plans on an impulse. If you spot a tourist who takes pride in flaunting their unkempt hair, who looks like he hasn’t shaved or had a bath for days together, then it’s most likely a backpacker.
Travel mission: Always WIP. They constantly want to learn about new culture and explore the natural beauty around. So they don’t mind putting up in tents, youth hostels or even a native’s house.
What’s in their bag?: All things basic and useful. Tissues rolls, candles, torches, mosquito repellents, first-aid kit, sleeping bag, water bottles, camera, maps, pre-packed food, trekking shoes etc.
Places they visit: Sparsely populated beaches, historical monuments and places, rock climbing and mountaineering destinations, forests and hilltops, cultural festivals, unknown music festivals, food bazaars, religious centres.
Our recommendation! There are times when a backpacker also wants to spice up an outfit for a special evening. So here is a wonderful tip on how not to look like a backpacker while living out of a backpack 😉 Travel with at least 2-3 scarves. They function in countless ways: (i) keep you warm around the at a cold destination; (ii) keep you cool at a hot destination; (iii) add a pop of color to a neutral outfit; (iv) tie up your hair in a stylish way, and work as a super-cool headgear on a beach-y holiday.
